Weaving Taster (Saturday, Feb 15)
Weaving Taster (Saturday, Feb 15)
Saturday, February 15: 10am-1pm
Whether a complete novice or needing a refresher, participants in this 3-hour workshop will experience the magic of creating cloth. With the loom pre-dressed and ready to go, students will learn basic operation and dive right in to weaving, leaving with a sample swatch. We'll cover methods to finishing the cloth at home, including hems and fringes, and options to turn the sample into a functional textile such as a mug rug. All materials are included.
Coffee, tea, and water will be available throughout the session.
Experienced weavers are welcome and encouraged to join this workshop. Enjoy sampling on a straight or point draw without having to dress the loom yourself!
Please note that this workshop utilizes a floor loom and equipment which requires simultaneous use of the upper and lower body. Dressing the loom involves sitting for an extended period with concentrated eye and hand work. Those with limited lower body mobility can request a table loom.
Building access: The Grand on River building has a zero step entrance and single stall restroom with one step down. We are located at the Warren bus stop. Free street parking is available across the street on 17th.
